SMARTLOGGER: Data basis for the Digital Battery Passport

The SMARTLOGGER was developed to capture all information relevant to the battery passport in a reliable and traceable manner. In addition to static data—such as battery identity and technical master data—it continuously records dynamic operating data, including voltage and temperature profiles.

Functioning as the physical and analytical hub of the SMARTBATTERY infrastructure, the SMARTLOGGER operates unobtrusively in the background. As a data acquisition module, it documents all relevant battery data directly at the battery—acting as a standalone system independent of any network connection.

In "Battery Passport" mode, the SMARTLOGGER is uniquely assigned to a specific battery. This digital link prevents mix-ups and supports the creation of a tamper-proof history spanning the battery's entire lifecycle. This establishes a transparent data foundation that supports future requirements for digital battery passports and sustainability documentation.

Flexible application options: permanent installation or mobile use

The SMARTLOGGER captures static and dynamic battery data directly at the battery, thereby laying the basic structure for a digital battery passport. As the central data acquisition module of the SMARTBATTERY infrastructure, it documents relevant battery information independently of a network connection and makes it available for service, analysis, documentation, and compliance requirements.

Mobile battery monitoring for service and diagnostics

In addition to permanent installation, the SMARTLOGGER is also suitable as a mobile service tool. By connecting via alligator clips, service technicians can assess batteries within seconds and perform temporary measurements without the need to install additional infrastructure.

This enables flexible on-site condition analysis, supports maintenance work, and facilitates the diagnosis of battery issues. Measurement data can be recorded directly and documented for subsequent analysis.

Data-driven error analysis

The SMARTLOGGER integrates independently of existing battery management systems, UPS controllers, or other monitoring solutions. Since the SMARTLOGGER solely collects data and does not perform control functions, it can be easily installed alongside existing systems.

This makes it particularly suitable for retrofitting existing battery installations where additional measurement data or preparation for future battery passport requirements is needed.

Easily retrofit without interfering with existing systems.

Implementing the SMARTLOGGER requires no modifications to the existing infrastructure. It operates autonomously and can be installed alongside existing battery management systems (BMS) or UPS controllers. Since it does not actively control existing systems, the integration is transparent, conflict-free, and secure.
