A special tool for configuring BACS systems Powerful analysis tools for experts
The BACS WEBMANAGER can be set so that any concerning or dangerous system values are assessed and, accordingly, to automatically initiate multi-layered alarm and safety measures. The problem is, BACS first has to know the difference between a “normal” and “dangerous” system state. The BACS Reader is the second professional tool with which technicians can directly read out directly during the installation for the configuration of alarm thresholds.
While the BACS Programmer is responsible for the installation, the hardware (connections, wiring, assigning IDs) and the connectivity, it is possible to “read” the modules directly with the Reader.
This includes, e.g.
Module model and hardware version
Temperature values
The internal resistance of the managed battery
Voltage and current values
Overview of the quality of the delivered data
A major aspect of the BACS Reader is monitoring the data stream itself:
Each charging current and the charging systems produce electromagnetic interferences as a consequence. If the conditions allow, these changing magnetic fields can negatively impact the data stream in the BACS bus due to induction. As a result, data packets may become unreadable or invalid (CRC error) or may even be completely destroyed (missing answer). With the BACS Reader, you can precisely determine in which BACS modules the problem has occurred and proactively search for the cause.
What does this data tell me?
The data can indicate defective batteries during installation, for instance, if temperatures are illogical or the internal resistance of a battery significantly deviates from that of other batteries. With this software tool, technicians have control of collected battery data and can use it to detect and assess potential problems in advance and take the necessary countermeasures.
The data can also be referenced to expedite the configuration of the BACS WEBMANAGER. These values are required to define specific functions and alarm thresholds, for instance, for battery separators.
For whom is this tool interesting?
The core function is intended for battery experts and technicians who are responsible for the actual configuration of the BACS system and managing connected peripherals and require the measurement data for thresholds or who are supposed to find inexplicable communication failures later during post-processing. The BACS Reader allows for the inspection of the modules and the quality of the data stream.
